Goldsmith's sampling

I have been in the workshop recently trying to work out the specifics for the Goldsmith's designs before I make them.
This is my first sample

It is made out of nickel and steel, rather than gold and silver but I have the information from it I need. I definitely need to practice the brooch backs (with tube) that I have proposed to make, but I can already see an improvement.
I really like the ideas of the golden ties. And I'm going to use gold for one of the wire elements as a visual contrast too. I am so excited to use precious metals again!!
Also I am liking the scratched finish. It was a last minute decision due to the fact that the barrel polisher was out of action temporarily.
I'll want to get the silver completely flat (apart form the corrugations) but this one buckled as i soldered the pin to it. Thats because it's nickel, silver shouldn't.
