Little Large Update.

Hello; well I can't believe that this will be the first update of the year and I'm eight months in!! What a shambles.
To be perfectly honest with you; this year has gone so fast for me and take me by surprise. I have had a full time job, and been dealing with *life* as well as making. So I've found that being a maker outside of the protected environment of university is very different! It's a slower pace, but with larger consequences and more financial implications. However these aren't so severe as I have my full-time job to provide the income for me. But still; the change has taken some getting used to!
I've mainly been creating collections from my graduate collection-more wearable pieces and branching out over different kinds of jewellery so making neckpieces, earrings and rings as well as my main love-brooches. But I'm now in a place where I am looking to create several new collections. A more commercial one; which I hope will work across several platforms (galleries, website sales and local craft fairs) and a conceptual exhibition range which is to commemorate my father, who passed away this February. On top of this; I have been quite busy with making wedding rings and even the odd engagement ring! I am excited to see how that develops and I am enjoying creating links with external businesses such as laser engravers and stone setters.
My more commercial range (I hope) will come from a trip to Budapest that I'm going on later this month. I can't wait to be in a new place, discovering new elements of architecture and looking at details and surface patterns. I want to create a much more wearable collection which highlights details of the buildings I see. I've already picked up on some tiles that I saw on a chapel this week- so that might feed into it.
As I am part of Alloy Jewellers; a Herefordshire jewellers group, we are producing an exhibition for show later this year. So this has been a great opportunity for me as its given me a bit of freer reign to do something a bit crazy and exciting. We were funded to make something in response to a poem; each jeweller being given a verse. So even though I've been very quiet on the online front; things in my workshop have been rather productive!!!
Keep an eye on my Instagram for more regular updates.
Hope you are all well-can't wait to get out and make more stuff!

As ever, I'm still into random markings (thank you London/BT)

This is part of the Philip Collection (for my father, Nigel Philip) - a ring box brooch for mum containing both their wedding rings.

Some of the latest wedding rings I have made-I love the laser engraving they've requested. Their ring finger prints!

Loving the geometrical shapes found in buildings.

A neckpiece I made for a charity auction. This is being fed from my interest in geometric found in architecture. This will develop more; I can feel it!

One of the pieces for the Alloy habitats collection in pieces (ha)

Mud. At the place where we scattered Dad's ashes. I love the pattern and surface- priced sheet; or constructed wire maybe?? who knows.
